On Sunday in the afternoon, you hear a very loud foghorn interrupting whatever it is you're doing! When you look up over the ocean, you'll see... an island! Whoa! We're almost there! In fact, we are there, so go get a last drink to go and get ready to disembark. It's hard to see the docks, because instead of wood, they're made of glass, for some reason. They're also currently being lapped by the ocean waves, which is why the yacht avoids them entirely and heads directly to the beach - an idealistic, beautiful place with soft white sand and sparkling blue waves. From this distance, you can see not only the beach, but an enormous mansion not too far from the sand. That looks nice... hope you're staying there, right? A second foghorn goes off, and you find yourself ushered to the gangplank by a troupe of very determined bunnies. These bunnies shove phones into your hands as you pass! You'll get a better look at them in a minute, because the bunnies do not stop there - they practically shove you off the boat down to the beach. Guarded by a pack of catfish-like creatures in little valet outfits, your home items will be there to receive you once you set foot on the soft, white sands. And just a few paces ahead, you spot three colorful figures...

New phone, who dis?

Yay, a phone! Wow, you've been set up with the works, huh? This is one of those fancy phones that cost more than half your yearly salary. Anyway, they've got plenty of features, and the best part is that they're constantly monitoring what you have to say at all times! Whoa! Your brand new Citrus Plus phone includes:

✦ Texting (as well as voice-to-text) ✦ Calling ✦ Video/Video Chat ✦ Notes functionality ✦ A camera ✦ A music player (called Smoothie) ✦ Full access to the Grapevine, an OnlyFruits exclusive network, as well as a selection of stickers, gifs, emoji, and more! ✦ Full access to the Fruit Juicer, an application for voting that seems to have no function outside of specific days ✦ Full access to Vitamin D, our specialized application that allows for you to get into your assigned team lounge! You can add password protection to these phones, if you'd like. It can be through facial recognition, a six letter/number password, or a fingerprint scan. Your phone is the same color as your team (so orange, yellow, or green), and has a cute little fruit shaped charm hanging from it. It essentially looks like an iPhone, except how it isn't so we here at OnlyFruits don't get sued. And last but not least, it's not invincible! If you throw it, it'll shatter the screen or scuff the case, just like a normal phone. Don't drop it in the pool. You can get a new one, theoretically, but you don't want to know what the cost will be.

[ And then the zooming happens and Love nearly catapults into the sky. This means they jump over Junpei's swing. How? They just do. ]

[ Is this to Love jumping? Is this to whatever the fuck is going on? Who can say? Regardless, he's immediately looking at his wrist and narrowing his eyes, using his right hand to start trying to pry the thing off while he continues to talk. ]

Okay, Fruit Ninja, I think you're vastly overestimating what we were working with on this boat. No keys, no other clothes, and a busted waterbed with a creepy mirror.

He keeps talking and they invasively lean closer to look at the wrist. ]

-- Okay, the keys weren't our bad, the stupid fucking bunnies were supposed to give you keys. I think. We can grab you guys some keys, the no sleep thing genuinely sucks.

[ They can lean in invasively! They will see Junpei trying to claw off what looks like a red watch-bracelet of some kind even while casually carrying on a conversation. ]

And were the bunnies supposed to be on the ship with us, too? Because think they missed the memo on that one. But it's fine, it wasn't so bad. [ Local man maybe hasn't slept for two days. ]

Got an explanation for the mirror other than "it's funny", at least? Couldn't get close enough to look myself.

[ Woah. ]

I really don't, man. You're at the whims of the fans, whatever they think is funniest, they're gonna vote for. [ They will do the same thing they've been doing where they snap and a hand appears over their shoulder and drops a key into Love's hand... you may also have a brass key. ]

Here. Take a nap. It's still waterbeds all the way down, but it's better than nothing. Also, what's that. [ Gestures at the watch... ]

[syncer]

[ A key... thanks, he will cherish it and maybe take a nap. ]

Sure, maybe later. I've got a few more questions before we get that far. For one thing, who exactly are our fans? What kind of an audience are we streaming for, do you know? And what's this about voting...?

[ To the question though, he frowns a little. He will rotate his wrist and show Love the front of the bracelet that displays the digital number 5. ]

Just a watch. Doesn't really go with this outfit though.

[streamy]

The fans are the fans of The Vine, so - the people you're gonna be performing monkeys for. I don't know what kind of people they are, but they like drama.

[ They'll actually pull this out of their jacket and hand it to him. As they look at the watch: ]

... Five. Ominous as shit, but I can catch a hint. Anyway, what I mean this is all dictated by the fans. It usually is.

[syncer]

Of course they do. It's reality TV, pretty sure that's the point. We'll see how disappointed they are.

[ He will take the flier though and examine it for a hot second before pocketing it. That's for later. ]

It's... fine. [ It can be a later conversation, he's more interested in the rest of this. ] So we really don't get much of a choice is what I'm hearing. Did the fans choose our teams? What're the chances of being able to swap around?

[streamy]

What the fuck, you hate me that much already?

[ They sound pretty casual about it, though. ]

Sorry, you're stuck on the team you're on. I don't actually know how the teams got picked, but that's a likely theory.

[syncer]

Nah, I don't know you enough to hate you that much just yet. [ Equally casual. But he seems like that's about the answer he expected, so. ]

Worth a shot. There was something... [ ... well. It doesn't matter to explain it if the answer's no, so he shakes his head. ]

So what about what's going on where we came from? Are we just missing for the season and we get sent back weeks later? I figure I should start planning my excuse now if I have to explain why I bailed for several weeks without notice.

[ They fold their arms, slouching. ]

Oh, man, don't worry about it. Time's paused. When you go back it'll be exactly the minute you left.

That's one less thing to worry about. [ Thank god. ] And this isn't being broadcast back home, is it?

[ They shrug. ]

Maybe. You got television where you are?

[syncer]

Reality television, even. People eat that shit up all the time. So guess that's a "could be, unclear"? I'll take it.

How'd you end up in this job?

[streamy]

[ Fingerguns! ]

You tripped and just happened to get stuck in a helmet? [ Very believable. ] Fine, okay. So you guys are our leaders for the whole time we're here. How easy is it gonna be to get ahold of you in the future?

Really easy. We're all gonna live in the same place, so you'll see me around a lot. I'll be on your little phone thing.

[syncer]

Convenient. I like it. So that means all of the teams are living in the mansion, too? We can see and talk to each other even if we're all competing on different teams.

[streamy]

Oh yeah, definitely. Look, you guys are on teams, but part of the fun for the audience is seeing the secret alliances and cross-team romances or whatever the fuck. You're not gonna be that far.

[syncer]

[ It's hard to say what his expression's doing. Maybe don't look at his face. ]

Good to know. That'll help a lot of people out. [ ... ] Is there any way we can get a look at our original contracts?

[streamy]

[ They are looking. ]

Nope. [ Wow, no explanation for that one, huh. ]

[syncer]

[ Look elsewhere!! ]

Oh. I wasn't sure if you could request that if I requested it from you. I'd like to read the rest of the fine print before the game starts.

We didn't even hear about the ship captain getting switched around from corporate, you're probably gonna want to lower your expectations.
