Good afternoon passengers, and welcome to the marvelous Scylla, heading directly for Napalm Springs... We are expected to arrive in approximately a time... Please enjoy your refreshments and entertainment while we make our way through the coral reef...

And with the startling boom of a foghorn, you awake on the deck of a boat. A superyacht, specifically! This isn't where you just were, but you should've seen this coming, right? Whether it was five minutes ago or five years ago, you signed a contract with a representative who told you they could make your dreams come true. Seems like your contract has activated! The OnlyFruits Media Group has collected each of you to shuttle off to a brand new season of The Vine, a reality show where three teams compete against each other for the chance to have their dearest dreams come true. There's always a twist (what sort of fruit would we be if there wasn't some sort of zest), but... you aren't quite sure what that twist might be just yet. Is that anxiety you're feeling, or are you just seasick? Anyway. When you wake up, you'll find that you are all dressed in dapper formal clothing. What a way to make a first impression! To both you and your... fans, potentially, since you get the sense that you're being watched, even if you're not sure how. If you have personal belongings, you won't find them for now - maybe they got sent ahead to your location already? And yes, this includes pets. Oh no. But there's nothing to be done about it. You might as well enjoy your stay on the Scylla, for now. And maybe meet your future potential teammates and rivals, while you're at it?

YO HO HO HO

In the words of Twerking With the Stars season 15 winner, Smdy Aamberg: You're on a boat! (You're on a boat!) You're on a boat! (You're on a boat!) Everybody look at you 'cause you're sailing on a boat!

It's a little packed on this ship, but for the most part? You're not too crowded. It's made to carry about forty people, so there's enough space to spread out. You can even find little places to be alone, should you so wish. Mostly. Again, you think there might be cameras, but you can't see any of them and even if you could, you wouldn't be able to break them. The main attraction of the ship is the cabin on the deck. Inside the cabin is a fully stocked bar, complete with mixers and garnishes. A fridge with pre-made meals spans across the underside of this bar, and there's enough in there for everybody on board to have at least three meals a day. How does it all fit? Just trust us, it does. If you try to take more than your fair share, you'll get electrocuted by a mysterious force, so maybe don't do that. Or do, if you're into that kind of thing.

There are tables and booths inside the cabin to hang out in, as well as a dance floor smack dab in the middle of the floorspace. There is a disco ball hanging down from the ceiling in the center of the multicolored dancefloor. From nine PM to midnight, this plays in the cabin, so enjoy your clubbing. At least it's not able to be heard outside of the cabin itself, so if you want to sleep, you can do so on the deck. There's a bunch of lounge chairs out there, go wild. Speaking of, aside from the lounge chairs, on the deck is a small pool with a hot tub extension. It's perfect for lazing about with a drink, or getting to know your fellow contestants. And why did we tell you to find a lounge chair to sleep in? Well, unfortunately all of the rooms in the sleeping quarters are locked and cannot be opened by any means, save for one. This room has one king-sized waterbed with a funhouse mirror on the ceiling directly above it, an armchair in the corner, and nothing else. The door to this room does not lock, and is weirdly warm. You can sleep here. Not sure why you'd want to, but you can. And yes, there are bathrooms. Public ones, with stalls and sinks. There is one shower. Keep that in mind. At the very back of the yacht is what appears to be the engine room, or something like it. It's locked, but the sign on the door reads:

YOUR CAPTAIN TODAY IS FLYINGWAY. PLEASE ENJOY YOUR TRIP TO THE ISLAND.

No amount of brute force or wits can break into this room. If you try to get in anyway, do let us know.

Dunno. Never seen so much water in my life. Kind of weird to be out in the middle of all of it.

But you're not wrong. [ watching her pull the whiskey off the shelf, he nods, leaning more comfortably now. ] 'Sides, it's clear they want us to get comfortable while we're getting to wherever it is we're going.

Landlocked? I grew up in a city port, so I got used to ships and water. Just never went far from shore, myself, which makes this familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.

[ she pours herself a little whiskey, too, to try it out, pushing the glass over to him with care to not spill it. ]

I'll get comfortable... but only so much, until we know exactly what we've gotten ourselves into. Papers can say one thing, the experience can say another. Cheers.

[ looks at his shot for a moment. ]

[ looks upthread. anyways. she raises her glass to that, giving him a snort, before also knocking it back like a pro. ]

I'm in the same boat as you - literally and figuratively - but all's well, I think. We'll see what happens. [ going to rinse their glasses to find another liquor for them to try. ] Rawiyah. You?

[ looks upthread. hm. he just taps the glass on the counter a few times. ]

Too late to take it back now anyways. Trying to read it was taking too long anyways... [ watches her rinse them... wow... he'd have just been awful and poured the next in, but he supposes since they're 'taste testing' it's best to do it this way. he looks at the selection out on the counter and pulls one of the bottles over to examine it - throws dart, it says 'gin.' ] Name's Valiant.

Oh you're definitely like him. He mentioned you.

[ valiant isn't exactly a common name, nevermind someone that's skylocked as he says. but she props her elbows on the bar to glance at the bottle that he's gotten, seeing the 'gin' and regarding it thoughtfully. no... that doesn't sound familiar. ]

Cheers, Valiant. We'll see what we've gone and gotten ourselves into before too long, but at least we get to enjoy the drinks along the way.

[ he allows her to let the not acknowledging pink-hair blue-skin be the answer. that's a yes. jem's talking to people - good, genuinely. he pops the top off of the gin and waits for the glasses to return before offering to pour with a gesture, slightly lifted brows. ]

[ but finally with a sigh: ]

And that would be Jem, yeah. He travels with me wherever I go.

I doubt it'll be as smooth as we'd like. [ she'll hold both glasses out for him to pour into, amusement clear but something alert behind it. ] But we'll do what we can with what we get. I'm used to doing that.

[ once he's poured the gin, she'll hold out his glass for him - and then offer hers forward for a clink. ]

Glad the two of you have each other while you're here, then, so that that hasn't changed. Doesn't seem like that's the case for most people.

Take it as it comes and all that.

[ clinks glasses and gives it a little sniff cautiously before down it goes with a slight twitch of his mouth as he considers it briefly. it tastes... interesting. not unpleasant, but astringent... hm. ]

I wasn't expecting him to be here, but maybe they thought it'd be funny to invite him too. [ looks into his glass. ] ... Dunno if I like this one.

Mmhm, exactly.

[ she'll take a drink along with him, pausing to consider it before swallowing. a little smack of her lips follows. ]

Probably. Wouldn't surprise me if there might be a jokester behind all this somewhere. [ regarding him, and then her own glass. ] Feels like it's missing something.

Great. Love the idea of jokesters being in charge of how things run around here.

[ sniffs glass a little again. ]

I'm not really one to mix my drinks - but right now it's not that great. [ he'd still drink it tho. he would not complain. ] What're you thinking?

There's always a clown in charge of big, official things.

[ said with amusement, but the rueful kind, before she straightens up and starts poking through the fruits and syrups. ]

Probably not alcohol. There's fruits and juices and syrups, though, so maybe that'd help.

No kidding. They'll put power in just about anyone's hands these days...

[ leaning a little over the bar from his seat to get a better look, chin tipping up a little. ]

Guess not. What about something sour?

You can say that again.

[ but they're not here to talk about the headaches of that. they're here to drink. ]

Lemons, limes, raspberries... elderberries... some that I'm not familiar with...

[ that they are and he doesn't really like to think while he drinks so just eyeballing a few of the options here. ]

The hell is an 'elderberry' ... just an old berry?

[ raising his brow. ]

How about we try with lemons or something. [ he precariously tips a little to grab what looks like a nice bottle of lemonade from a bucket of ice. ] Keep it simple.
