Rise and shine, superstars! It's a brand new day and a brand new opportunity to prove that you have what it takes to win this season's grand prize. Didn't manage to sleep well after yesterday's grisly discovery? A shame. But filming schedules are a cruel mistress, and they don't care to wait for the sleep deprived. As soon as the clock strikes 11:30AM, an announcement will play from the numerous loudspeakers hidden around the island:

... Hey, doesn't that voice sound familiar? Is this what they call a celebrity cameo? Huh. Ignore the announcement, and you'll soon find yourself accosted by the local mascots — namazu, loporrits and gestrals alike following after you and trying their damnedest to haul your ass to the beach. And if the pleading stare of these adorable(?) creatures is still not enough to get you moving, then worry not! Because at exactly 11:59AM, if you still haven't made your way over to the beach, a trap door will abruptly materialize under your feet and drop you right into the path leading up to the beach! Better stick your landing, or millions of viewers across the galaxies will watch you belly flop onto the ground. Embarrassing... The path leading up to the beach has been lined with torches, carving out a direct trail that leads right into the bowels of The Council — an old, abandoned ship that rests on the island's south shore. Whether it's the real deal or a fantastic piece of art from this season's set designers is anyone's guess, but you should probably avoid rubbing up against the rustier looking bits and bobs just in case. Inside the bowels of the rotting vessel, you'll see a circular area with enough benches for all of the remaining contestants to lounge about, and several long stone slabs that look a little less empty than usual. And while the sun shines bright above you during the daytime, you'll find that the torches surrounding the ship will soon become your only source of illumination once the sun sets and you are plunged into the murky darkness of the night. Well, with the sole exception of one torch that will remain unlit the entire time. At the far end sit three thrones with a rather peculiar display behind each one, and currently occupied by Live, Laugh and Love. A large LED display has been hung up behind them, which simply reads:

As soon as it's officially 12:00PM, the LED display will begin to count down until it hits 00:00:00:00 at the very end of the trial. To the left of your hosts, there's a large beach cooler filled with all kinds of chilled drinks — from water bottles, to juice pouches and sodas, and, yes, even half bottles of wines and other alcoholic drinks. There's a plastic table nestled a couple of feet away, where the remains of the ship shield it from the sun, covered in a spread of sandwiches, baked goods, chips, dips, and what appears to be leftovers from yesterday's lunch and dinner. None of these items are fresh and most of them look like they came right out of a vending machine, but it's the thought that counts...? Welcome to your very first trial, superstars! Better get nice and comfy, because you're going to be here for a long, long while.

✦ It's trial time, baby! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about this week's murder. Characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations. ✦ There will be a one hour tag break starting at 4PM EST/1PM PST. While players are allowed to keep tagging through the hour, all mod tags will pause and players are encouraged to take a break, eat and hydrate. ✦ The voting page is now unlocked! Please read through the post carefully for more information about how voting will work in this game. Note that voting is not mandatory in The Vine, and it is up to each character to decide if they wish to cast a vote before the end of the trial or not. ✦ Characters will be unable to leave The Council until the end of trial, as they will be blocked off by that same translucent barrier that prevents them from entering the currently locked segments of the island and a small gaggle of some very determined mascots. You wouldn't want to make them sad, right...? Exceptions will be made for the purpose of investigations, of course, where characters will be accompanied by an NPC escort.

[Fair enough! Since Nice is avoiding the blood pool Blade will go over to investigate that now. How big is it, and does it have any distinct shape or is it just "blood be here"?]

[ Nice avoids the blood pool! focusing only on the chairs, there’s a bit of splatter on the chairs, but not too much! more importantly, in his line of sight, there is a bloody stain soaked into the wood on the table!

on the other side of the table is a knocked over fruit bowl! all the fruit in the bowl is also all over the floor. nooo, the fruit. one piece has rolled directly under the table...

for blade, investigating the blood pool, he'll find it's not huge, but it is of a decent size. there's a smudge to one side of it. is he on the ground inspecting it, or from on high? ]

[He'll take a picture of the chairs just to remember to come back and clean them up. He swallows and leans closer. What part of the table is the stain on? How big is said stain?]

[Blade was standing up to begin with but once he sees the smudge he will crouch down to look at it more closely and snap a picture of it. Is there something to be seen there?]

[ The bloodstain is half on the top of the table and sort of curved around the side of it. Now that Nice is looking closely, he can see that the bloodstain is a handprint.

you know what, ari, you don’t have to roll for it. stelle can bonk her head on the table. in doing so, she catches onto the strong smell of sharpie. and she now has the imprint of something in sharpie ink on her forehead. boy i hope someone else can read that for you. near the fruit she was chasing, there is… yet another object!

for blade! the smudge is not too big - maybe baseball sized, and just a smudge at the pool's edge! if he looks very closely at the pool, he’ll see… a hair in there! whoa…

and while he’s down on the ground, he may also see yet another ANOTHER object kicked off underneath a chair. ]

Is there any other evidence left on table or anything strange about it? If he looks specifically on and around the table for handprints will he see any?]

[He'll take a selfie of himself with the blood pool, smudge, and the hair visible, then take the hair itself. There are no precautions taken so he now has blood on one of his hands.

Then he'll shuffle over to go pick up that object under the chair.]

anyway!!! Nothing else on the table, no! Nice can see now from where he’s standing by the mess of chairs and blool and table with handprint there’s some blood on the vending machine across the way.

and blade will find… a book! he can see the title is smudged with wet sand but that’s about all his non trial eyes can see. ]

[Goes over to the vending machine, dodging anything that could be mess on the way and goes to inspected it. Where is the blood located? Is there anything else unusual about the vending machine itself such as what products it has? Does it appear to be damaged?

[ sweet!! an uncapped sharpie. just what she always wanted. it gets tucked into her thigh band where it (hopefully) won't get ink on everything.

is there anything else down here besides the mystery fruit she's also absconding with or is it time to crawl over to the Other Object ]

Standing back up and looking around, can he follow the blood trail out of the dining hall or is that for other investigations?]

[ You actually cannot see what products this vending machine has - it’s the opaque one from the location page! there’s just some blood on the front of it. it’s kind of middle-to-low of the front and is more of a smear than anything.

the machine is not damaged!

the fruit bowl was in fact the other object so you’re good. if she would like to come out from under the table and join the others she may do so. blade can follow that trail, but it is the same one that was checked previously in the other investigations! however on the way out, the gang might notice something on the ground by the door… ]

[ shoosh you’re fine. the smear’s kind of horizontal..ish? don’t think about it too hard. same with height, it’s kind of middle-to-low range, maybe a couple feet off the ground? do not think too hard about this either!

if nice is just looking at the front of it, then nothing else strange!

the bird creature makes a garbled noise that sounds suspiciously like ORANGY and laugh grabs it by its pixels. ]

[Nice will reach over and rattle the vending machine a little, trying to get a sense of how sturdy it is. Then he'll try to check around the sides to see if there's anything else. Also the back if he can manage to see anything!]

[ the machine rattles, but it’s pretty damn sturdy! its hard to tell if there’s anything in there... however, when examining the back, nice will find a balled up wad of bloody fabric! whoa!!!!
